From residential to commercial projects, corporate boardrooms to home offices, hotel suites to health care facilities, ASID designers create the places where we live, work, play, heal and worship. Interior designers who are ASID members must pass rigorous acceptance standards: a combination of accredited design education and/or full-time work experience. Those designated as professional members must also pass a two-day accreditation exam administered by NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification). The New Jersey Chapter of ASID, with over 1,000 members, including interior designers, industry partners and design students, is one of the largest and most active chapters in the nation. RetailSpeaks
RetailSpeaks is an idea that was created in 2004, then launched in 2007, as a community of gift and stationery retailers determined to compete and thrive in a world filled with big boxes and internet stores. Each member of RetailSpeaks is an “independent retailer”—someone who owns three or fewer brick-and-mortar stores, is not part of a franchise or chain, does their own buying, sleeps little, eats on the fly, and can juggle a fax machine, a telephone, a new employee and the UPS guy all at once. Members fall into one of three categories: Bricks I, who have at least three years of ownership behind their own cash registers; Bricks II, who have less then three years; and Clicks, who are internet-only retailers. They are not home studios...no franchises, chains or big boxes allowed.
